Awesome Run + Awesome Food = Heaven!
Can it get any better than a good run and good food?! Well, maybe – but I can think of very few combos like this that really make me HAPPY! It’s cheesy, but true!
Tonight’s run was awesome! Instead of running from my gym and around the Charles River, I actually decided to head straight home because my boss let me out earlier than usual (I had some overtime from last week). I wanted to avoid rush hour traffic so I went home and went for a run from my house back towards the city.
I also decided NOT to buy new running gloves yet because I realized that I had left my coupon for Marathon Sports at home — and I rarely buy things without a discount!
So, I decided to wait and use my old gloves. Plus, I wanted to hear more about you guys’ recommendations. I already got a few suggestions and excited to check them out!
Anyway, onto tonight’s run.
My planned 5-miler turned into a 6-miler! I wanted to stop at Whole Foods to grab some veggies for tonight’s dinner after my run so I decided to run there instead. But I had to make my run a little longer to get there on my way home, so I just decided to do an extra mile.
And I’m glad I did! The weather was perfect for a run (around the low 40’s) and the winds were calm, especially compared to Saturday’s run! Also, my legs felt fresh. It’s really amazing what a day of rest can do…so I’m really starting to understand the value of rest in a training program.
Here are the stats:
Mileage: 6.01miles
Duration: 00:52:41
Average Pace: 8:46 min/mile
And here’s the Garmin page: http://connect.garmin.com/player/20592820
As soon as I got home, I followed last week’s advice from Runner’s World and had a cold low-fat chocolate milk for a post-run recovery drink.

A bought a box of these cartons the week before Thanksgiving and I still have some. Such a great investment!
Dinner
For tonight’s dinner, Matt and I decided to make a repeat of the stir fry noodles from last week but we did change it around. I decided to model it after this Beef-Broccoli Lo Mein recipe from CookingLight.com. I used everything they have on the list for the sauce except for the oyster sauce because I have an allergy to oysters.
We also added more veggies other than broccoli – we decided to add mushroom, organic baby corn, and scallions, but I forgot to add the orange bell pepper! I wanted to make it more nutritious, but unfortunately, it wasn’t as colorful as I had planned. Oops!

I LOVE baby corn. I still remember eating it as a little girl in the Philippines…I would pick them out of my dishes and eat them last cause they were so yummy.
Sometimes, Whole Foods has fresh ones, but not tonight. I made do with this one.

Here are the veggies…cooking!

And then the meat was added! We used a flank steak cut…yum yum!

Matt serves himself a huge bowl!

We ate by my mini Christmas tree, which I got last year. Isn’t it cute?

Finally, for dessert, I ate the chocolate coins that my roommate Valerie gave me for Hanukkah! The coins tasted like it was made with good quality chocolate!

Well, that’s it for now, blog friends. Hope you have a good night and see you in the morning!

I didn’t know you could buy cans of baby corn. I’d love to make a stir fry in the near-future so that’s really good to know. Especially if I can’t find anything fresh!
Congrats on the awesome run!! I love that feeling!
